Concept used, particularly by economic anthropologists such as Barth and political anthropologists such as Wolf, to describe persons who make use of the gap in the evaluation of goods, values and meanings in different spheres or contexts. The principle is to buy cheaply in one sphere and sell expensively in another. Often used synonymously with broker. (See bricoleur.)
